Eitan Buganim:
The Early Years
MoBY-Museums of Bat Yam, Bat Yam, Israel
November 12, 2009 - February 13, 2010
“The Early Years is a common concept among those museum hallway dwellers entrusted with the preservation and the cultivation of the treasure in their charge. It is a means of constructing an alternative historical narrative of an (inevitably canonic) artist or artistic stream of one type or another. My own deviant use of the title The Early Years can, of course, be read as a subversive act (if that political concept is still even possible in our day) aimed at undermining conventions, premises, and expectations – but that is obvious and of no interest to anyone. I am much more interested in the creation of doubt or uncertainty than in any internal debate with art history or rebellious statement against the tyrannical system.” Eitan Buganim in conversation with Leah Abir.
